Strip I cut one tiny form and gave up... *PIC*

Thu, 10/19/2017 - 14:37
The MDF dust from jigsawing the rough shape, bandsawing close, and sanding to the line was more than I was willing to deal with, and I was already in fear of an oops. So... Yeah, not the fastest way. I've spent two days creating cut files. But with an effective dust collector on the CNC, ...

Skin-on-Frame PL Premium on Polyester Tested

Mon, 10/16/2017 - 17:54
This happened a few weeks ago... I'm only now getting around to posting about it. Neighbor of mine went out kayaking with me. She took the wife's 13' Yost Sea Bee, while I took the 17' Yost Sea Rider. It was a nice paddle, but her competitive streak came out and she wanted to race. ...

Strip Petrel Play build decisions

Sat, 10/14/2017 - 07:26
L vs U shaped strongback spacers: I notice a change from Nick's books to the videos -- worth the extra effort? Strips -- now this might be a holy war issue, but the question is regarding 3/16 vs 1/4. The pros and cons seem to be 3/16 is lighter, easier to bend, and gives a slightly higher yield ...

Other Got in a short 2 day paddle this week.

Sun, 10/01/2017 - 17:39
Sometimes I feel guilty living in such a spectacular area. Full disclosure this one is almost a 3 hour drive away. Flaming Gorge never disappoints this time of year. Here is a link to the slide show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXakugWoCxk&t=24s

Announce Drinking and Paddling

Fri, 09/29/2017 - 11:54
I love Canada, my second home. Pretty soon the RCMP won't arrest you for drinking while paddling a canoe or kayak. See - http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-41437084 Never even crossed my mind when I launched Ootek in part twelve of "Building Ootek" on YouTube.
