Other Happy New Year *PIC*

Sun, 12/31/2017 - 19:28
We did the New Years Day paddle a couple of days early this year. We couldn't resist the warm calm air but we could have done without the inversion that came with it. Video link below. Happy New Year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMpoo9-wNH0&t=24s of days early this year.

Other Extreme cold weather effects on strip built

Sun, 12/31/2017 - 05:44
Usually my boats just sit idle and untouched over the winter after freeze up. But this year I am planning to take a cedar strip kayak to the indoor pool a few times for some roll practice. The kayak is stored in an unheated garage and temps are well below 0 degrees at night. Will the temperature ...

Strip Deck / hull attach

Wed, 12/27/2017 - 02:58
Somewhere buried in this forum is either a drawing or photo of 'something' hot glued to a kayak and then a wedge used to align the deck/hull for glassing. I have searched everything I can think of to no avail. Does anyone remember this and can you give me a clue to its location ? Thank you

Other Matunuck surf kayak

Sat, 12/23/2017 - 10:25
Hello all! I am a fairly experienced sea kayaker and love the swell and surfing small/medium waves. Now I found this nice design of the Matunuck surf kayak on Nick's homepage and was wondering if you have any experiences in paddling it and building it? I am slightly bigger than the "average" ...

Strip Fiberglass patch

Sat, 12/16/2017 - 13:07
The fiberglass (FG) on my 3 y/o strip kayak has worn through just in front of the cockpit, probably from the nylon release strap on the cover used during transport. After sanding and cleaning the area to be repaired, can I merely add more fiberglass and resin to the area, or do I need to remove a ...

Strip Drinking water access

Fri, 12/15/2017 - 12:36
I am about ready to join the deck/hull of a Petrel for my wife. At her request I need to include a "camel back" type of water bag. In the few years I have been on this forum I don't remember anyone talking about doing this. I have the bag/tube assembly. The tube is 1/4" I.D. plastic covered ...
