Thu, 03/30/2017 - 01:47
In a recent 'Paddle News' newsletter there was an article about making a one- handed paddle. I would like to make one but would like to see some other examples (designs) before I proceed. I know I have occasionally seen them in pictures, and maybe even for sale, on the internet but now ...

S&G: New puzzle joint design *PIC*

Tue, 03/28/2017 - 13:09
I'm trying a new design for the scarfs on my wife's S&G baidarka. They were CNC cut. So far so good! This section is the floor of the cockpit, just forward of the seat. The scarfs were assembled with just CA glue. I wetted the surface with rubbing alcohol to show off the final color.

Can anyone offer advice on how to repair a cracked paddle shaft? (Werner Shuna paddle, carbon blend shaft.) The crack is about 4-5" long, running longitudinally at the end of the female half of a two-piece paddle. Male half of the ferrule is in good shape. When the pieces are joined it still ...

I build a Cape Ann from Vaclav's design (One Ocean Kayaks) a number of years ago. This forum was a lot of help. I was cleaning out my garage today and came upon a couple of items that might be of interest to someone currently building. When I finished my kayak it was the dead of winter and I ...

Material Scratch Repair

Thu, 03/23/2017 - 02:36
Got a scratch in my varnish down to the epoxy, can feel it with my finger nail, not into epoxy. How best and easiest to fix. It is on topside so will show. Don't really want to sand and refinish whole topside just fix scratch. Any ideas?

Material Fiberglass Sleeve size?

Fri, 03/17/2017 - 18:02
I plan to use the mini hot glue sticks (5/16" diameter) when making my Maroske fittings on the OI build. I will be ordering some fiberglass sleeves from Soller Composites but I want to be certain which size to buy. The 1/2" light duty sleeves have a size range from .14" min. to .6" max. This seems ...

Strip Kayak Foundry

Tue, 03/14/2017 - 10:00
Has anyone here used the Kayak Foundry program to design their own boat? I know they have their own message board, but its not as "active" as this one- answers to questions are fewer & farther between. I'm working on designing a small, 16' stripper. On the "math page" of the plan, by design ...
